Hlalem

Hialem is a dried roll of foodstuff used as a base for soup. The roll (similar to rolls of split pea soup in the USA) is approx. 1,5 cm long, contains, chickpeas and meat, and is dried in the sun. Hialem is often eaten to break the fast during Ramadan.

Varieties :

  • Hialem with legumes (“bidbabich”).
  • Hialem with fresh vegetables (“bil khodra”)
  • Hialem with dried meat (“bil kadid”)
  • Hialem with chicken (“bidja”).
