As everywhere else the bargaining and good deals did not completely disappear from our customs and habits. It is still practiced nowadays in Kairouan. Still should it be practiced in the code of practice and in all smoothness.
One does not negotiate the price for example in shopping centers. On the other hand, one can not escape bargaining in the market particularly in the shops where the prices are not displayed for purposes of everyday consumption as shoes, clothes, special products for special occasion and products of the craft industry.
Simply, It is always necessary to be armed with patience and arguments to convince and leave with a satisfactory price for the two parties never to be irritated and take things with humor and fair play
I know, one has always the obsession of fear to be frauded. since finally it is the law of supply and demand adapted the Tunisian way one which you would have deserved. Pay attention, everytime to the “beznaza” (doubtful racketeer specialized in the dredger and the traffic).
To finish the bargaining, it should be regarded finally as a play although certain psychologists explain it by a lack of confidence between the two parties even when one says “It is free… but it is free until you reach the cshier”. Or when one proposes also the famous Berber credit to you: “half now and the rest immediately”.
Most importantly it is when something is wanted, it should be bought immediately because no one does know what tomorrow will be the price for it.
“kaddach” how much?
“ach atawek” how much one gave you?
“allah yrabeh” it is god who will make us earn. It is an enough courteous manner to say no
“mabrouk” congratulations. i.e. concluded affair.
